Children's Policy
How Idea Travel approaches bookings involving travellers under 18 β including age requirements, safety measures, and parental responsibilities.
Introduction
Idea Travel (By Travel Trend) is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all travellers, and particularly of minors. This Children's Policy outlines our approach to bookings involving travellers under the age of 18, the responsibilities of accompanying adults, and the measures we take to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for young guests.
By booking a trip that includes a minor, the lead adult traveller (parent or legal guardian) accepts the terms of this policy on behalf of the child and takes full responsibility for the child's welfare throughout the trip.
Families are welcome
We warmly welcome families and children of all ages on our trips. This policy ensures every young traveller has a safe, memorable, and age-appropriate experience.
Age Requirements
There is no minimum age for most of our experiences, provided children are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times. However, certain activities carry specific age or health restrictions:
- Snorkelling & water activities: Children under 8 must be accompanied in the water by a supervising adult at all times. Life jackets are provided for all children.
- Horse or camel riding: Children under 5 are generally not recommended for these activities. Children aged 5β12 must ride with or directly alongside an adult guide.
- Desert or adventure excursions: Some remote desert excursions may not be suitable for very young children. This will be noted clearly in the tour description.
- Felucca and boat trips: Children of all ages are welcome. Life jackets are mandatory for children under 12.
If you are unsure whether a specific activity is appropriate for your child's age or ability, please contact us before booking and we will advise honestly.
Unaccompanied Minors
Idea Travel does not accept bookings for unaccompanied minors (travellers under 18 years of age travelling without a parent or legal guardian).
Travellers aged 16β17 travelling as part of a school or organised youth group must be accompanied by a designated responsible adult (teacher, group leader, or youth worker) throughout the trip. The organising institution must accept full responsibility for all minors in the group, and we require written confirmation of this arrangement before confirming the booking.
Safety Measures
The safety of all our guests β especially children β is our highest priority. Our approach includes:
- All guides and drivers are vetted, experienced professionals familiar with working with families
- Child-appropriate safety briefings are given at the start of each activity
- Safety equipment (life jackets, helmets where applicable) is provided and checked before each activity
- First aid kits are carried on all guided tours
- Emergency contact procedures are in place for all excursions
- We provide a 24/7 WhatsApp contact number for any urgent assistance during your trip
We ask all parents and guardians to ensure their children understand the safety instructions given by guides and to supervise their children at all times, especially at archaeological sites and near water.
Medical Requirements
At the time of booking, parents and guardians must inform us of any medical conditions, allergies, disabilities, or special requirements affecting any child in the group. This includes but is not limited to:
- Severe allergies (food, insect, environmental)
- Respiratory conditions (asthma, etc.)
- Mobility limitations or physical disabilities
- Any condition requiring regular medication
We will make reasonable adjustments to accommodate children with special requirements wherever possible, but we must be informed in advance. Failure to disclose relevant medical information may result in a child being unable to participate in certain activities for safety reasons.
We strongly recommend that all families travelling with children obtain comprehensive travel insurance that includes medical coverage for minors, including emergency evacuation if required.
Parent & Guardian Responsibilities
By booking a trip that includes a child, the responsible adult agrees to:
- Supervise the child at all times throughout the trip
- Ensure the child has appropriate clothing, sun protection, and hydration at all times
- Carry any necessary medications (including EpiPens, inhalers, etc.) and be prepared to administer them
- Ensure the child's passport and any required documents are valid and in order
- Comply with all safety instructions provided by Idea Travel's guides and staff
- Accept full responsibility for the child's behaviour and wellbeing throughout the trip
Idea Travel and its guides act in a supervisory support capacity only. We are not registered childcare providers and do not provide crèche or babysitting services.
Photography of Children
We respect the privacy of all our guests, especially children. Our guides and staff will not photograph children without explicit permission from the parent or guardian.
If you share photographs of your trip on social media and tag Idea Travel, please consider whether images featuring your child are appropriate to share publicly. We will always seek your consent before using any image featuring a child in our marketing materials.
